Cat’s Eye Margaret Atwood $22.95 To be serious for a moment, a great Canadian writer, winner of the 2000 Booker Prize for this one, and when I’m minding the shop after hours, I read a chapter a night. The title got me in and now I can’t put it down. It’s about a painter Elaine who is overwhelmed by childhood memories, and is one of Atwood’s best, in my humble opinion. |

The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time Mark Haddon $22.95 I’m a bit curious about the other species. Sadly the dog was dead, but it’s a good story about a kid with a photographic memory who writes a murder mystery. He is a brilliant kid but finds it hard to understand other human beings. Me too! Written for children but also loved by adults…and cats. And it won some prizes too. |
